The Bona Fides are an integral part of maintaining a secure pharmaceutical supply chain, from manufacturer to patient.

The aim of conducting the Bona Fides is to ensure all those within the supply chain are licenced by the appropriate regulators and able to supply or receive finished medicinal products as required.

The Bona Fides are part of the larger strategy to combat against the entry of falsified medicinal products into the European Economic Area (EEA) supply chain.

Given their importance to the supply chain, the Bona Fides are an area of high importance to inspecting Competent Authority Inspectors and continue to be an area where companies collect a large number of deficiencies including major deficiencies.
